Greyinklab is a concrete functional art studio founded in Delhi by Mohit Vijh. Every piece is cast by hand, shaped slowly, and designed to hold presence in the everyday spaces we live in.

The studio began with a simple provocation: why are the objects we reach for every day so forgettable? A tissue holder, a tray, a lamp — these things live in our rooms. They are touched daily. They deserve to be worth noticing.

Working primarily in concrete, Greyinklab explores what happens when a functional object is treated as sculpture from the start. Not decorated after the fact — but conceived, formed, and cast as something that holds character.

Each piece takes days to make. Nothing is produced in volume. Nothing is outsourced. The irregularities in surface, the weight in your hand, the mark pressed into the base — these are not incidental. They are the point.

Mohit Vijh is a photographer and object-maker based in Delhi. He founded Greyinklab as a serious design practice — not a home decor brand. The studio's work sits between sculpture and utility, made for people who believe the ordinary can be exceptional.

The studio's first collection, KAIYŌ Edition 01, was inspired by ocean and deep-sea forms. It was made entirely by hand, sold through direct conversation, and collected by people who understood what they were holding.

How we got
here.

2022

The first pour

Mohit makes his first concrete object in a studio in Delhi. Not for sale — just to understand the material. The mould is made by hand. It takes eleven iterations to get the proportion right.

2023

Greyinklab is named

The studio becomes a practice with a name. The first pieces are sold through direct conversation and Instagram DMs. No website. No storefront. Just objects and the people who understood them.

2024

KAIYŌ Edition 01

The first named collection launches — sculptural tissue holders inspired by ocean and deep-sea forms. Humpback, Thornback, Currin. Each named. Each cast individually. The collection sells out through direct outreach.

2025

First in-person sales — VegNonVeg pop-up

Greyinklab's first in-person sales happen at a VNV pop-up in February. The Thornback Lamp is picked up by a collector on sight. The studio begins building relationships with design retailers and interior designers.

2026

This website. A new chapter

The studio launches its first proper digital home. The work remains the same — made slowly, one piece at a time, in Delhi. The audience grows. The practice deepens.

Objects should hold presence

A piece earns its place in a room by having character. Not by being decorative — by being real. Concrete has weight. It has texture. It tells you exactly what it is.

Slowness is the method

Every piece takes days. The mould, the pour, the cure, the finish. Nothing is rushed. The weight you feel when you hold a Greyinklab object is the direct result of this time.

Imperfection is proof

No two pieces are identical. The micro-variations in surface, colour, and weight are not flaws — they are evidence of how the piece was made. By a person. By hand. Once.
